In November of 2019, I reached out to Jaime Parker, Manager of Programs at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK), to see if I could volunteer at the soup kitchen as a photographer. In doing so, I hoped to spread awareness of the charitable work being done by the TASK to the larger community around Trenton, hopefully spurring donations to the kitchen from generous people seeing the value, and necessity, of their work.

 

After successfully photographing patrons and volunteers at the kitchen on Thanksgiving, I was invited back to the kitchen on Christmas to photograph young kids picking out toys from the kitchen's toy room and receiving other donations, such as clothes. From seeing the smile on kids' as I snapped a picture of them with their new toys to casually conversing with some patrons in Spanish to ask them for a picture, the experience was incredibly heartwarming and fulfilling.
